[6";32;41m GAMES
[0m& I said last issue that games would&be a feature of this issue and they&are but not quite in the way I&envisioned. I will no longer be saying&what will be a feature in future&issues of the magazine and instead let%what turns up be the deciding factor.& Card games feature most prominently&in the game reviews, something I never&could have predicted. I'm not going to&compare the two sets of card games&from the two different producers as&they both have their strengths and&weaknesses. Instead I'm going to&compare the two strategies employed to
sell them.& Richard Brown of Tower Software in&the UK has released Solitaire Sampler,&a disk of five card games, as freeware&to tempt people into buying his two&sets of card games, each containing 15 games and selling for
10 a set.& Perry Rosenboom of Australia on the&other hand has released two shareware&games (so far) at
5 each. These are&the first two promised in a set of at&least six.
10 however will get you&all the games in the set as they're produced.& On strictly value for money terms&Tower's 15 games for
10 is much&better than Rosenboom's six for the&same amount, drip fed to you over
months or perhaps years.& An interesting difference though is&the two methods offered for payment.&Tower just asks for
10. Simple to pay&if you live in the UK, a hassle to pay&if you don't. Rosenboom however will&except cash from countries other than&Australia and prices his games in six&different currencies. If you live in&one of those six countries then&payment is as easy as posting a
letter.& There's a risk of course involved&with sending cash through the mail but&as long as the amounts are not too&large it's one many may be prepared to
take.& If users have any opinions on this&then I'd like to hear them.&Personally, if all else was equal I'd&opt for sending cash due to it's&simplicity. It also means the person&earning the money does the tedious&work for you, (going to banks and such!like), which is how it should be.
